Succulent Edition

Note! Please remove your succulent plants immediately from the packaging and place them in a well lit environment ideally nearby a window.
You do not need to build your terrarium right away but as these are living plants they do need light to survive, especially after transit during delivery.
Succulent Terrarium Steps -
Step 1 - Add your Drainage Layer
Locate the bag marked with the Drainage Layer - Sand
Add roughly 3/4’s of the bag to the bottom of the glass jar; save the remainder as a top dressing in step 5.
Step 2- Add Soil Layer
Locating the bag marked as Soil - Succulent.
Add the soil above the drainage layer.
Tip - You can opt to keep your soil flat or add some elevation by adding a slope or mound of soil to add some creative variation to the terrarium.
Step 3 - Add Hardscape
Locate the bag marked as Hardscape. This will include two varieties of hardscape you can use to decorate your terrarium.
Tip - Place your hardscape items in a creative layout that best fits your vision for the terrarium design; typically you’ll separate them, but sometimes they look great together. The choice is yours!
Step 4 - Add Plants
Decide where in the terrarium you’d like to add your plants, envision your design prior to planting. Once decided, remove the plants from their pots and add them into the soil layer of your terrarium.
Tip - Use your Chopstick tool provided to loosen the soil around the roots of the plant and then to help dig / place the plant into the soil. Typically adding plants near some of the hardscape items helps to create a natural look.
Step 5 - Add Top Dressing / Decorate
Using the remaining sand from step 1 you can add a top dressing layer over the soil to give a natural desert look. Add the Top Dressing Gravel around to finish off your terrarium.
Tip - Use either a small funnel or a rolled up piece of paper to help you distribute the remaining sand / gravel around the plants and hardscape.
Optional Step -
Add your own unique touch! Adding miniature figurines, crystals, gems, or other items can really make your terrarium custom to you!

Watering & Care
Water
Succulents by their nature hold water in their “leaves” and need much less watering than traditional house plants.
You should add a small amount of water for each plant every few weeks depending on light and temperatures. The more light and high temps, especially in the summer require more water, but not much more.
In the winter when there may be less light you may only need to water sparingly every month or so. Because there are no drainage holes in terrariums you always want to water sparingly and not overwater.
Light
Succulents are primarily desert plants and we try to emulate their environment as best as we can. We recommend placing your succulent terrarium close to a window, preferably south facing, or the one that gets the most direct sunlight.
If you don’t have a window with enough light or want to place the terrarium in an area with less than ideal lighting you should consider adding a grow light, sold separately, to your setup.
